Budd Boyz began in 1991 as a way to strengthen the bonds of young men who were members of the Miami Carol City Senior High School “Mighty Marching Chiefs.” Co-founded by Franklin D.R. Wesley II, Dr. Michael O. Dixon, Meshawn Arnold, and Daniel King, the Brotherhood united students from diverse backgrounds with a shared commitment to friendship, leadership, and service.
What began with teenagers—some freshmen and others seniors—has endured for nearly 40 years (Since 1986). Today, those same brothers are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, educators, entrepreneurs, military service members, and community leaders who remain committed to one another and to giving back.
In 2020, that lifelong Brotherhood became Budd Boyz Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, expanding its mission to provide scholarships, mentorship, leadership development, and educational support for the next generation of students, musicians, and athletes.
Today, we honor our fallen brother, Franklin D.R. Wesley II, whose unwavering dedication served as the glue that kept the Brotherhood together for nearly four decades. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the mission of Budd Boyz Inc. to continue Building Champions for generations to come.
